Aim

The new digital age we are living in is completely different from the previous ones that humanity has experienced, as the pace of change is faster than ever. The continued reduction in the cost of available technologies creates significant opportunities to be exploited, but also threats as traditional industry boundaries expand, creating new competitive pressures for businesses regardless of industry. The significant reduction in the cost of computing power, data storage, the use of broadband services and other individual technologies are driving an exponential rate of change that transcends industry and geographic boundaries, creating opportunities in many industries, including Biomedical and Healthcare .

Following the above, the aims of the Institute are:

  • the realization of basic and applied research and the transfer of know-how and technology in the scientific subjects related to digital biomedicine,
  • preparing studies and participating in the implementation of research projects and programs,
  • the utilization of research results with the aim of benefiting society and the country, through the digitization of digital services, medical data and health data,
  • the contribution to the specialization of young scientists,
  • the provision of services to the public and its bodies, but also to private bodies at their request (e.g. hospitals, private clinics, public bodies dealing with health, etc.),
  • the undertaking of advisory and development actions at local, regional and national level,
  • the provision of product, service and process certification,
  • the effective interaction of research and education, participating in the single area of higher education and research and the European research area, but also the education of social groups and professional fields in matters of digital biomedicine and digital health
  • the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of its scientific and technological achievements,
  • the attraction of renowned scientists, the reversal of intellectual capital leakage and the strengthening of the flow of young researchers,
  • regional development and employment,
  • the contribution to public health policies.
